Classroom visits center around stories about Jorge Argueta's childhood and how he became a writer. He explains himself as "...a bad student until
I wrote my first poem about my grandmother being a Pipil Nahua Indian. I sensed for the first time that words gave me a sense of freedom." Appreciate hearing from a bilingual author who enjoys interacting with children and sharing with them his knowledge and insight into writing.

Teacher Testimonial

"Mr. Argueta was terrific! We appreciate hearing from a bilingual author with really wonderful things to say about writers and poetry. My students found his words to be an inspiration for themselves as writers. 'We are walking poems.'"
